In memory of Lorraine Beckett

It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of our friend and dear colleague Lorraine Beckett. This is a very difficult loss for us all.  If there is any comfort, it is knowing that Lorraine passed away peacefully with her family by her side.  Some of you were aware that Lorraine was ill and she knew that your thoughts were with her.

Lorraine was a cherished member of the UBC family. She grew up on the University Endowment Lands, she was a devoted member of the University Hill Congregation and she was a valued staff member, and CUPE 116 member, at UBC for over 25 years.

I had the pleasure of working closely with Lorraine during my time as Director of Plant Operations. I always valued her advice and sense of humour. She had a gentle but clear way of telling me if I needed to rethink an idea or do something differently, which I greatly appreciated.

Lorraine will be remembered by all of us as a kind, caring and good person. We will miss her deeply.
