Share your feedback on Planon

On April 11, Customer Services & Informatics will be launching a survey to gain insight into everyone's experience using Planon. The survey will be annoymous and only sent to those that regularly use Planon to receive, plan, and complete work.

Your feedback will help our teams continue to stabilize and improve Planon, and establish a baseline assessment of your experience. We anticipate to conduct this survey annually to help measure improvements and keep track of areas that require attention in Planon.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Wesbrook Mall upgrades

The Wesbrook Mall corridor from 16th Avenue to Chancellor Boulevard is being upgraded in phases to repair the condition of the roadway and enhance safety and user experience for all modes of transportation. As part of this upgrade, road closures will be conducted in stages.

Road closures (Stage A): April 11 to July 29, 2022

  • Chancellor Boulevard westbound lane will be closed to traffic between Western Parkway and Theology Mall. Eastbound and westbound traffic on Chancellor Boulevard will alternate using the eastbound lane on Chancellor Boulevard.
  • Some traffic delays should be anticipated using this corridor during this stage of construction
  • The sidewalk along the north side of Chancellor Blvd will be closed at times to allow for a new sidewalk to be built.
  • Access to residential properties along the north side of Chancellor Boulevard to be maintained throughout most of construction. When access cannot be maintained, arrangements will be made with residents directly by the construction superintendent.

Learning for work: Occupational health & safety training

Did you know that the occupational health and safety (OHS) trainings and orientations such as new employee orientations, fall protection and confined space entry are a regulatory requirement and a part of the Facilities Health and Safety Program?

Whether you work in an office or industrial setting on campus, being knowledgeable about the hazards in your workplace and how to manage them by participating in OHS trainings helps to:

  • Ensure that we are not injured or made ill by the work we do;
  • Ensure our health and safety competency;
  • Develop a positive health and safety culture, where safe and healthy working becomes second nature to everyone;
  • Find out how we can manage health and safety better;
  • Meet our legal duty to protect our health and safety and that of our campus community.

UBC Safety & Risk Services and Facilities provide mandatory training for all UBC workers and courses in areas of expertise to assist individuals in being proficient and safe in their work. For more information about UBC's OHS trainings and what is required, visit the Safety & Risk Services website or speak with an SRS Advisor.

EDI: March 31 is Inernational Transgender Day of Visibility

International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) occurs every year on March 31st. This day is dedicated to celebrating transgender people, their contributions to society and raising awareness of discrimination faced by transgender people worldwide.

The day was founded by US transgender activist Rachel Crandall of Michigan in 2009. While violence against the transgender community has been recognized through days like Transgender Day of Remembrance, Rachel wanted to create a day that celebrates and acknowledges active members of the community.

To learn more about our transgender history and community members who have been instrumental in creating change and holding key positions within our society, like Julie Lemieux the first openly transgender person to be elected as a mayor in any municipality across Canada, view the links below:
