Caroline Macleod promoted to Executive Assistant to Associate Vice-President, Facilities

Caroline Macleod is promoted to the new position of Executive Assistant to the Associate Vice-President (AVP), Facilities, reporting to VPFO Administration. Caroline brings a wealth of experience to this role, and will be responsible for liaising with the wider University community and fostering working relationships with Senior Executives across the University. Caroline will begin her new role on June 1, 2022 and be the primary contact person for John Metras, AVP Facilities (Incoming Interim Vice-President, Operations).

Caroline will continue to work alongside Amrita Bastians, Executive Secretary and Sandi Phelan, Admin Clerk/Receptionist to support the Facilities Leadership team. To better align the current work Amrita is supporting for Infrastructure Development, Amrita will be focused on supporting the administrative and scheduling needs of Infrastructure Development’s Managing Director, and the directors of Facilities Planning and Capital Planning.

Caroline joined UBC in 1998 as a Financial Clerk in the Finance Department for Land & Building Services (now UBC Facilities). In 2010, she was promoted to lead and manage the newly created clerical pool at Building Operations, and was later promoted as the Executive Secretary for Building Operations. In this role, she helped streamline processes, created standards and consistency in scheduling safety training, developed and expanded the Kids to Work Day Program, and organized the first Ice Cream Social for Building Operations. In 2019, she joined Energy & Water Services as the Executive Secretary on a temporary basis to cover for an extended leave.  This later became a permanent role in 2020.

Caroline has a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management Engineering from De La Salle University in Manila, Philippines, and has taken training courses in project management and change management.
