Great seeing you at the VPFO Town Hall

  • Leadership Transition plan
  • Looking back at a few highlights and significant accomplishments
  • Our path forward – sharing our Strategic Plan

The resources from the town hall, including recording, slides, agenda, and helpful links, are now available on the VPFO website. Review the VPFO's Strategic Plan, including our vision, purpose, values, and strategic directions, on the VPFO website

Planon Release 4.1 go live

The Enterprise Maintenance Management System (EMMS) project team is pleased to share that Planon Release 4.1, transitioning Energy & Water Services’ (EWS) assets and preventative maintenance plans from BuiltSpace to Planon is now live. This will better align our inventory and asset management system.

This transition means that EWS can now use Planon to maintain and manage their urban and building assets via preventative maintenance plans and orders created in Planon. Front line staff is able to complete inspections via the Planon Mobile Field Service App (PMFS).

Release 4.2 (still to come) will create integration between ArcGIS and Archibus, so that Property related data moves into Planon automatically.

A big thank you to everyone who was involved and contributed immense efforts to support this project!

Sharepoint Upgrade on June 8, 2022

There is an upcoming migration upgrade to SharePoint 2019 starting from 9:00 am on Wednesday, June 8 to 9:00 am on Thursday, June 9.

The upgrade is expected to be fairly seamless as the site URL, contents, structure, and permissions will be preserved as part of the migration.

Before the migration, please complete the following:

  • Perform a site cleanup
  • Save any changes to your files and pages
  • Check-in all checked out files and pages
  • Complete any running workflows

During this migration, there will be a content freeze and your site will be set to read-only. This means:

  • The contents of your site will remain accessible but will not be editable
  • Your files will open in the local Office application, instead of within the browser using Office Web Apps.
  • Your workflows will be paused and will not be triggered.

After the migration, please perform your own validation testing to verify that all your content has migrated.

The Communication & Collaboration Services team will complete a basic validation check as part of the migration process and will be available to support you if you encounter any issues.

If you have any questions, feel free to log a ticket with the Communication & Collaboration Services team

Inclusion, Exclusion, Segregation, and Integration: What are they and how are they different?

Many African-Americans migrated to Tulsa after the Civil War, carrying dreams of new chapters. The Tulsa race massacre took place on the evening of May 31, 1921, killing hundreds of residents, burning more than 1,250 homes, and erasing years of Black success.

In this week's VPFO EDI article, learn about:

  • the Tulsa race massacre
  • how the Civil Rights Movement abolished institutional racial segregation and integrated schools and other aspects of everyday life;
  • the differences between the terms: Inclusion, Exclusion, Segregation, and Integration.

Emergency tip: Beware of aftershocks

Always remember to Drop, Cover and Hold on for each aftershock you experience!

After an earthquake, expect hundreds if not thousands of smaller earthquakes called aftershocks. They can continue for weeks, if not months after the initial event.

For more information, visit the Government of BC’s website. You can also learn more about earthquakes, including what to do before, during, and after one, on UBC's Emergency Preparedness website.
