UBC Accessible Building Guidelines: Building an inclusive campus

UBC is in the process of creating the UBC Accessible Building Guidelines (ABGs). The guidelines are intended to position UBC as a leading institution and be a go-to source for comprehensive, best-practice accessibility features.

They will provide practical, functional, and campus-specific guidance for creating accessible and inclusive environments. This includes outlining the “why” behind the features and strategies for consideration and implementation. They will help inform thinking about accessibility at UBC, enhance the BC Building Code (BCBC), and point to other UBC guidelines and technical specifications for detailed requirements.

The guidelines are in the development stage and will be presented to the UBC Executive team in April 2026.
