Charles Creelman is promoted to Electrical Technical Specialist in Building Operations

Charles Creelman has been promoted to Electrical Technical Specialist (ETS) in Facilities’ Building Operations and will be starting in his new role on Monday, January 27.

The Electrical Technical Specialist is the Electrical Field Safety Representative for the university’s electrical operating permit. Marcus is retiring on June 30, 2025 and a transition is required due to the regulatory requirements of this role.

Charles will be very familiar with the Electrical Technical Specialist role as he has spent several years with the ETS team as a Project Coordinator. Charles brings with him a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise related to maintenance & operations. He has fortunately had the opportunity to collaborate with most groups and departments on campus, so the transition should be relatively seamless.

This role is the subject matter expert and is relied upon to provide technical solutions for critical university systems, and to ultimately the reduce life-cycle costs of assets. Some other tasks include capital planning, design development, conformance to code & regulations, technical guideline sustainment, risk mitigation, safety, training, etc. As Building Operations further develops preventative maintenance programs, Charles will assist with the development of proactive strategies. He will also work closely, and in support of design review, building handover and Transition Team activities.

We are extremely fortunate to have him in such a critical and demanding role for the university. Join us in congratulating Charles on his well-deserved promotion!
