Municipal Services is responsible for UBC’s streets, fleet and public realm with a focus on providing a clean, accessible and enjoyable space for people to move, linger and connect to nature and the campus community. The department includes the Streets & Operations Support Group, Waste Management, Fleet & Garage, Soft Landscape, and Stores. Municipal Services also provides moving services, event support, and extreme weather response.
Contracts & Service Level Agreements
The Contracts & Service Level Agreements team works with UBC faculty/departments to set up maintenance service contracts for faculty/department owned equipment such as AC units, furnaces, compressors, fleet vehicles, etc.
Fleet Management
The Fleet Management team manages over two-thirds of the entire University fleet and offers a complete range of services for all automotive and equipment assets. They have an established strategic fleet partnership with ARI Canada- Global Fleet and are able to obtain enhanced services, by maximizing negotiating power and minimizing the impact on budgets
To align with the larger campus initiative of reducing GHG emissions, Facilities is building a more efficient fleet and reducing funds allocated to fuel and maintenance. UBC has also positioned itself as a Charter member of the E3 (Energy, Environment, Excellence) Fleet program and has been in recognized in multiple years with an E3 fleet Platinum Rating since 2014.
Soft Landscape
Soft Landscape maintains the campus lawns, gardens and trees. The team has expertise in gardening, tree care, lawn care, irrigation and pest control.

Streets & Operations Support
Streets & Operations Support is responsible for the maintenance of a combined 76 hectares of roads, sidewalks and hard surfaces on the academic grounds at UBC Vancouver. During extreme weather events this team supports safety and accessibility by managing snow and ice response.
At UBC, the public realm experience supports and enhances the academic experience. As such, this team takes pride in managing the social infrastructure, such as water features, to support the wellbeing of the campus community.
In addition to delivering core services, our team also provides customer support services such as moving services, confidential shredding, and E-waste collection.
Stores
Facilities Stores is open to all UBC academic or ancillary departments, and carries operational and maintenance supplies that can be purchased.
Waste Management
Waste Management provides both waste management services and waste reduction education to the UBC campus community through the coordination of recycling, composting, e-waste, and litter reduction initiatives.
Through our targeted waste reduction campaigns and collaboration with other departments on campus, Waste Management plays an important role in helping to make UBC a sustainable and healthy community.
