Capital Planning & Development

Capital Planning & Development is a key department that ensures the University’s physical environment supports its academic mission and vision. It develops and manages the University capital priorities plan, which guides the planning, development and oversight of capital projects involving infrastructure (buildings, landscape and utilities) at UBC Vancouver, UBC Okanagan, and all other UBC owned and leased properties.

Capital Planning & Development also leads the UBC Renew initiative, which aims to revitalize existing buildings to meet current construction standards and the needs of UBC’s academic community.

Capital Planning & Development works closely with the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future skills (PSFS) and UBC faculty and senior administration to develop multi-year capital plans for academic buildings and building system upgrade projects. These plans provide the necessary funding for the construction, refit, and replacement of campus buildings and infrastructure.
