Project Summary

The old elevator was unreliable and not wheelchair friendly. The elevator’s entry doors swung into the corridor and restricted access. The placement and type of the elevator control panel made it difficult for wheelchair persons to use. Our intent was to replace the old elevator with a new unit which conformed to present elevator codes, and which was wheelchair friendly and capable of heavy use.

The existing unit was removed and the hoist-way reconfigured to accommodate a new LULA (Limited Use, Limited Application) elevator. The new unit featured sliding entry doors and a new control panel, which improved wheelchair access and simplified the operation of the unit. The cab interior was also upgraded to reflect the high end interior finishes of the building.
