Getting ready for Planon and Workday

We are now only one month away from the November 2 go-live date for Planon and Workday. The opportunities are exciting, as Planon will provide the Facilities team with significantly enhanced power to effectively manage and maintain the university’s physical assets, including more functionality when submitting and responding to service requests. Workday will provide us with better access to the financial and human resources information we need for our day-to-day work. It will also provide each of us with easier on-line access to our own payroll and benefits information.

I want to recognize the huge effort on the part of the respective project teams and the strong participation of our teams undergoing training. I understand the efforts required are significant and the implementation of these systems has not been an easy task. Our continued collective engagement in training and other start-up preparations is critical for a smooth and successful implementation.

The go-live process and the immediate period afterward will be challenging for all of us as we get accustomed to the new systems. There will be a break-in period where glitches will arise, so be prepared for the fact that some elements may not work as desired right away and will require adjustment. We will work through these challenges together with your engagement, input and patience.

If you have not yet started the on-line training, I encourage you to do so. Further information on training and upcoming project milestones are available here:

Thank you again for your continued efforts to make the Planon and Workday implementations a success. Your contributions and participation are essential.
