Nationwide menstrual hygiene supplies shortage

Due to supply chain issues, we are currently experiencing delays in refilling our menstrual hygiene dispensers in washrooms across the UBC Vancouver campus. UBC Facilities is working with our suppliers and distribution centres, however, we do not have a confirmed date when supplies will be available. We assure you that restocking these dispensers as soon as possible is of utmost importance to us.

Since 2019, UBC Facilities’ Custodial Services has been working with Free Periods Canada, a grassroots organization founded by UBC students, to promote intersectional menstrual equity by ensuring all menstruators have access to the products and information they need. Currently, over 300 menstrual hygiene dispensers have been installed across the UBC Vancouver campus, providing free sanitary pads and tampons.

Free Periods Canada continues to work closely with the UBC community to improve period product access and aims to address stigma around menstruation and provide an equitable and inclusive environment. To learn more about this project, visit the Free Periods Canada website.

To locate these dispensers, Free Periods Canada has mapped out the menstrual product dispensers on the UBC Vancouver campus on this interactive map:
