Custodial Services leading the way

Dear team,

I’m proud to officially announce that Sean Lynch, Director of Custodial Services, has been nominated by his fellow team members for the 2025 ISSA Emerging Leaders award and program. While this is a personal recognition for Sean, it truly reflects the collective strength and dedication of our entire Custodial Services team at UBC.

This nomination shines an international spotlight on our work, raising the profile of our team both across Canada and globally. It also strengthens our connections within the wider cleaning industry, providing us with valuable opportunities, including:

  • Education and training to support professional growth,
  • Access to a global network of over 11,000 industry leaders and solution providers,
  • Exposure to the latest cleaning technologies that benefit our campus community.

Through our ISSA membership, we’ve already experienced the value of these connections, most recently when we applied for and received the Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS) with Honors status.

Sean’s journey is one that many of our Custodial staff can relate to. He started at UBC as a Service Worker when he first came to Canada, and through hard work and dedication, has grown into leadership roles in SHCS and Facilities. His story is a powerful reminder that there are opportunities to grow beyond your current role within our team.

In November, Sean will be recognized alongside this year’s Emerging Leaders at the ISSA tradeshow and conference, further strengthening UBC’s role in the global custodial community.

This nomination is a reflection of the excellence, professionalism, and pride that our entire Custodial Services team brings to the university every day. If you’d like to support Sean and help him reach the top of his class, you can add your name at issa.com/class-of-2025/ before September 30 (see the bottom of the website page). The top candidate will be awarded the ‘Rising Star’ award.

Thank you for your continued support!
