UBC Technical Guidelines
The UBC Technical Guidelines are design and construction standards for new institutional buildings and major renovation projects on the UBC campus.
The Technical Guidelines ensure that buildings are designed and constructed to optimize service life and minimize life-cycle cost. They supplement the National Building Code and BC Building Code and cover off UBC’s pedagogical and sustainability requirements, as well as make best use of commonality of systems, procedures, equipment, and staff experience and skills.
The overall aim—apart from responsible stewardship of public funds—is to provide the necessary and required level of service to facilities to enable UBC to realize its teaching and research goals.
The Technical Guidelines are maintained by the Facilities Technical Services group with input from campus stakeholders.
