Construction: Until end of October 2023
Starting this week, construction will begin for the installation of three additional fully-electrified bike share stations. The on-campus stations are fully integrated with the rest of the Mobi system, so users will be able to ride Mobi bikes and e-bikes between stations on and off campus. In August, we began construction for the first two Mobi public e-bike stations at War Memorial Gym and The Irving K. Barber Learning Centre.
Construction for each additional station will be approximately 3 weeks, and expected to be completed by end of October 2023.
- Thunderbird Parkade (South-East entrance): Starting week of September 25
- Orchard Commons (Agonomy Road side, near West Mall): Starting week of October 3
- West Mall Swing Space (West Mall side, north of entrance doors): Starting mid-October
What to expect during construction
- Fencing around the area for the Mobi public e-bike stations
- Removing pavers, cutting concrete, coring, and electrical work
- Some noise is expected around the area
- Preparation of concrete and pouring concrete.
UBC is enabling the expansion of the City of Vancouver’s Mobi by Shaw Go Bike Share program to the UBC Vancouver Point Grey campus through the installation of five fully-electrified bike share stations. This project is funded in part by the BC Active Transportation Infrastructure Grant program and TransLink’s Bicycle Infrastructure Capital Cost Share program.
