Don’t feed the clog monster

Every time you flush paper towel, the dreaded clog monster grows, creating an increasingly large clog down in the building’s pipe system. This menacing fiend lurks in our pipes, causing clogs and backups in your spaces. The clog monster leads to closed washrooms, flooded learning spaces, and costly cleaning and renovations. Metro Vancouver water crews conducting planned maintenance

As part of planned maintenance, Metro Vancouver water crews are working within the City of Vancouver, which may cause turbid water. Update: As of October 21, Metro Vancouver has rescheduled this work in November

$7-million donation from Dan On Foundation seeds the future of food innovation at UBC

A $7-million donation from the Dan On Foundation will fund the building of UBC’s Food and Beverage Innovation Centre, set to formally open in early 2025. The centre will help the agri-food industry in B.C. and beyond by providing access to state-of-the-art technologies and facilities.

UBC Botanical Garden is currently undergoing construction to replace seven pedestrian bridges. While the garden remains open to visitors, some pathways will be temporarily closed to allow for the safe completion of this work.

Help keep rodents out of your work spaces

Rodent activity and indoor migration increases as the weather gets colder, and they move indoors for shelter and food. Help prevent rodents from moving in by securing your waste and food. Learn more about prevention and how to report signs of rodents or other pests on campus.

Ongoing 16th Avenue watermain project

Please be advised that UBC Facilities will be conducting maintenance work on the 16th Avenue watermain that supplies water to the UBC Vancouver campus from October 9-11, 2024.

Natalie Wagorn promoted to Manager, Capital Planning & Development

Natalie Wagorn has been promoted to Manager, Capital Planning & Development. In her new position, she will be managing the preparation of Executive and Board of Governors Approval submissions, contributing to Business Case submissions for Government funding, and preparing detailed project progress reports.

Construction begins for UBC Sauder Expansion

This month, the UBC Sauder Power House Expansion Project will begin construction for a new 11-storey building that will sit on the former Power House site and next to the current Sauder School of Business facility. The demolition of the Power House began last year and was completed in March of 2024.
