Upgrading accessibility at Allard Hall with new sit-stand desks
Facilities teams recently tackled a complex project at Allard Hall.
The project’s goal was to add sit-stand desks to five classrooms to improve their accessibility. With the original tables being made of built-in millwork with metal legs embedded in concrete, the job required creativity and skill to create desks to match.
Thanks to the carpenters, joiners, painters, electricians, movers, metal shop crew, and project coordinators from Facilities’ Construction Office for their hard work. This was a complex job, and the team’s craftsmanship and teamwork made it happen.
Kudos as well to Allard Law, the Learning Spaces Advisory Committee, the Learning Spaces team, and Capital Planning & Development for their efforts in initiating and supporting this project.
The finished desks look seamless with the rest of the classroom, and more importantly, make these spaces more inclusive and functional for students.
