Upcoming UBC Farm Substation Replacement

Anticipated construction dates: Late April–October 2026 

Construction on the UBC Farm Substation Replacement is anticipated to start at the end of April 2026 and run to the end of October 2026. The existing high-voltage substation has reached the end of its operational service life. The replacement substation will incorporate modern, industry-standard equipment that will enhance operator safety, reduce long-term maintenance requirements, improve overall system reliability, and minimize the risk of unplanned outages. 

The work will include construction of a new concrete pad and installation of underground electrical cable pathways and the new substation. See proposed location below. 

Here’s what to expect 

  • Nearby buildings and areas should expect noise from construction activities and delivery vehicles. 
  • The construction area will be fenced off with no access permitted. The rest of the farm will remain open and operational. 
  • A laydown area will be set up near the construction site.
