Posted on:
April 17, 2026
Location: Neville Scarfe Lecture Block (SCRF)
Construction on Phase 2 of the Scarfe Complex Electrical Renovation is anticipated to begin in May 2026 and to be completed at the end of August 2026.
Expanding upon the work from Phase 1, this renovation will replace the aging, end of life electrical infrastructure in the electrical rooms feeding the Lecture Block of the Scarfe Complex and mechanical equipment.
Phase 3 is planned for Summer 2027 and will wrap up final work on the electrical upgrade in the Classroom Block.
Here’s what to expect
- The basement level of the Neville Scarfe Lecture Block will be shutdown for the duration of the project. Impacted staff and activities will be relocated during this time.
- Some noise from construction activities is to be expected for users of the Neville Scarfe Complex.
- An electrical shutdown is scheduled for early June. During this period, there will be no electrical power and the Lecture Block will be completely closed.
- A mechanical shutdown is scheduled for the month of June. During this period, the heating/cooling system of the building will be shut down, but access and usage will remain open.
- A laydown area will be set up near the construction site, location TBD.
- Temporary road closures may occur during equipment delivery, location TBD.
