Understanding Facility Condition Index (FCI)
As buildings age, their condition naturally deteriorates. Each building on campus serves a unique purpose so the balance between strategic maintenance and capital investment is unique to each building.

UBC capital priorities
UBC maintains a comprehensive plan for the development and renewal of institutional infrastructure to meet evolving academic needs as well as the needs of our growing campus communities.

Construction on campus
UBC Facilities manages the construction of new buildings, modernization of existing spaces, and unplanned renewals of capital assets on the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses.

Projects on campus
A selection of projects that are currently underway, in future plans, or have been completed.

Seismic
Since 1994, UBC has been actively working with external engineering partners to assess, plan, and improve the Vancouver campus in preparation for a major seismic event.

UBC Furniture Reuse Program
UBC’s Furniture Reuse Program is inspiring change and taking action to reach zero furniture waste.

Planon
Planon is UBC’s Enterprise Maintenance Management System (EMMS). A cloud-based solution that supports UBC’s strategic goals, in the delivery of property, grounds and energy and water service; maintenance, inventory and asset management.

APPA Facilities Management Evaluation Program
In 2017, we participated in the APPA FMEP evaluation process. The book Enabling Greatness: Our Story Behind UBC Vancouver’s Buildings and Grounds served as both a formal APPA FMEP self-evaluation and a comprehensive overview of UBC Facilities.
