In memory of David Meek

It is with a profound sense of sadness and loss that we share the news of the sudden passing of David Meek over the weekend. This comes as a terrible shock to us all.

Dave was a well-known and well-liked Project Coordinator with Building Operations and Infrastructure Development. He joined UBC in August 1999 as a Red Seal Carpenter with a background in high-rise construction. He spent six years in the carpentry shop in Building Operations before moving on to various roles including estimating, scheduling, resource planning and managing special projects. In 2010, Dave joined the Construction Office where he skillfully coordinated a broad range of capital renewal projects. In late 2019, he moved over to the Project Services team in Infrastructure Development to undertake similar work. Dave contributed immensely to the UBC community through his work and the many strong relationships he built across campus. Dave was a husband to wife Sim, and father to Liam and Ethan. He was renowned for his devotion to his kids, his passion for boating and his great sense of humour. Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to Dave’s family at this very difficult time.
