Upcoming road closures on UBC Vancouver campus as of March 17, 2023

The following road closures are expected around the UBC Vancouver campus as of March 17, 2023. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

District Energy System work on University Boulevard west of Wesbrook Mall from April 17–19

The westbound lane on University Boulevard will be closed from April 17 through August 19. Two-way local traffic will be accommodated in the eastbound lane. This work will result in some delays to traffic, so we ask the community to plan ahead. Please refer to the high-level plan of work and detour routes for the first period of work.

Note: while the start date on the plan is April 24, prep work will begin in the week of April 17

All buses will be detoured out of the University Boulevard Loop from April 17–August 19 During this time, there will be no parking along University Boulevard (parking available in University Boulevard Lot). Deliveries for commercial units have been arranged separately in alignment with waste management requirements. Pedestrian detours will be signed.

Walter Gage Road closed for Brock Commons

Walter Gage Road east of East Mall will remain closed until ~Fall 2023. Pedestrians are also detoured around the site as shown in the above map.

The new Food and Beverage Innovation Centre building is underway

The new Food and Beverage Innovation Centre (FBIC) will be located on the south side of Hospital Lane between East Mall and Health Sciences Mall. Hospital Lane will be fully closed during most of the construction. Pedestrians are detoured to the north side of the School of Population and Public Health building as shown in the map above. There will be intermittent single-lane closures on East Mall to facilitate utility work.

District Energy System work on Student Union Boulevard Until March 24

The eastbound lane on Student Union Boulevard will be closed for up to two weeks for repaving starting March 20. Eastbound traffic will be detoured north to Walter Gage Road to exit onto Wesbrook Mall. This work will result in some delays to traffic, so please plan ahead.

Pedestrians crossing Student Union Boulevard west of the Exchange Residence will be detoured east or west to other crossings.  There will be no public parking or space for pick-up and drop-off on Student Union Boulevard, except in front of the Tim Horton’s.
