Sepideh Parlee will be joining Facilities’ Energy & Water Services as a Utilities Electrical Engineer. Her career journey started in Canada with 2 co-op semesters at TRIUMF-UBC, and she is now pleased to be back as an employee and to bring her utility experience and perspective to contribute to the success of this department.

Sepideh brings over 12 years of work experience from BC Hydro, including substations, transmission power flow analysis, control centers and real-time operations, distribution planning, and distribution engineering departments. During this time, she acted as BC Hydro’s owner’s engineer on complex and high-profile capital projects in the Northshore region, collaborating with various stakeholders, overseeing design, and providing engineering support for construction.

Most recently, Sepideh spent the last two years with Wood, assigned to Duke Energy in Florida as a Distribution Planner responsible for the utility’s self-optimizing grid, where she analyzed the existing grid and made recommendations to improve efficiency and reliability by strategically enhancing automation and assets in their network.

In her free time, you’ll find Sepideh in the mountains, skiing in the winter or hiking during the summer, enjoying other outdoor adventures when weather permits, or exploring some travel destinations.

Sepideh will be starting November 11th , working from the Campus Energy Centre, and is looking forward to her next career chapter with UBC and the Facilities team.
