Fiona Jones joins as Accessible Buildings Planner, Capital Planning & Development

We are excited to announce that Fiona Jones will be joining the Capital Planning + Development team within UBC Facilities as the Accessible Buildings Planner on September 9, for a two-year term. Fiona brings extensive expertise in architecture and inclusive design, and she will be instrumental in developing accessibility guidelines for both new and existing buildings. Her work will ensure our projects align with the Rick Hansen Foundation certification and the upcoming Accessible B.C. Act.

Her previous role at HCMA as Knowledge Manager of Inclusive Design has equipped her with a deep understanding of accessibility issues. Fiona’s contributions to research on the cost of accessibility and her involvement in creating inclusive design strategies have been recognized across Canada. Fiona is a Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification (RHFAC) Professional and was a member of the program’s Technical Subcommittee.

Please join us in warmly welcoming Fiona to the team and offering her our full support as she embarks on this important journey with us.
