UBC has updated its COVID-19 Safety Planning Framework to align with Step 3 of the BC Restart Plan and the COVID-19 Return-to-Campus Guidelines for B.C.’s Post-Secondary Institutions. The Public Health Office moved to Step 3 on July 1, 2021 and will extend until the start of Step 4 which is anticipated to begin September 7, 2021 at the earliest.
UBC Facilities operations teams continue to follow public health measures to ensure buildings are properly cleaned, operating, and maintained to provide a safe environment for students, faculty, and staff. The following public health measures continue to be the primary controls to effectively reduce transmission of COVID-19:
- Receiving vaccination.
- Performing a daily health self-assessment and staying home if feeling ill.
- Practicing proper respiratory etiquette (e.g. cough into elbow).
- Practicing good hand hygiene.
- Regular environmental cleaning and disinfecting.
This information is to inform students, faculty, and staff of Facilities’ operations and service levels to support UBC’s approach to safely resume campus activities as directed by the BC Provincial Government’s BC Restart plan and in accordance with WorkSafeBC and Provincial Health Officer requirements.
