Welcome to Planon

Congratulations everyone! Today’s go-live of Planon marks a significant milestone for the Facilities team and our UBC community. The efforts required — from our evaluation and selection of Planon, to undergoing design, configuration, testing and training, to go-live today — have been significant and the implementation of this system has not been a simple task.

I am incredibly appreciative of everyone’s tireless work over the past 2 years. I want to say a heartfelt thank you to the hundreds of staff in Facilities, our partners at Planon, as well as the EMMS Project Team who have led us through the process. Together, thanks to your diligent work, we will improve maintenance, inventory and asset management for UBC to enable us to continue to deliver exceptional service to the campus community.

I am especially interested in our implementation of Planon mobile for field technicians. We can now use mobile devices to improve UBC’s building asset history, review past asset failures/solutions, determine when to replace an asset, and adjust preventative maintenance programs. This is the start of using our digital tools alongside our traditional tools to transform our work over the coming decades.

I know this transformation will take time. But as we become accustomed to Planon, I am confident we will work through these challenges together. I call on your continued collective engagement, active participation, input, and patience to allow us to use Planon to its fullest extent. We plan to expand Planon’s capabilities next year, and in the years ahead, with the introduction of new features and functionality to enhance our work.

Thank you again to everyone for your continued support as we begin using Planon.
