University Services Building – Roof Renewal
Construction: April — Fall 2024
The University Services Building Roof Renewal will replace the 7,710 square metre main roof assembly in the spring of 2024. The project will help alleviate ongoing maintenance concerns, improve the building’s energy performance, and carry out a partial roof diaphragm upgrade, improving overall seismic performance. This project is being carried forward under the Routine Capital program, which prioritizes the essential maintenance needs of the university.
What to expect during construction:
- Noisy work – noise impacts will be greatest during the demolition phase, during the gravel ballast removal, and during the seismic upgrade to the decking.
- Demolition materials will be taken off the roof via a chute and bin, location TBD.
- Dust may be knocked down from the ceilings, particularly on the upper levels where ceilings are exposed.
- The project will communicate regularly on the lookahead for upcoming construction activity, with a focus on items that may be impactful to building users.
