Douglas Kenny Building Electrical Renovation begins in May
Construction on the Douglas Kenny Building Electrical Renovation is anticipated to begin in May 2025 and to be completed in August 2025. This renovation will remove aging electrical equipment and upgrade the system to a standard that meets current regulations and expands electrical capacity.
Pedestrian pathway south of West Parkade closed June 2 until the end of July for construction
The underground utility construction portion of the West Mall Swing Space conversion from natural gas to the District Energy System is anticipated to begin on June 2. The pedestrian path between the West Parkade and the University Services Building and the West Parkade south entrance (2nd floor) will be closed during construction. Parkade entrances at the southwest (1st floor) and southeast (4th floor) corners will remain open.
Buchanan Block C Elevator Modernization begins June 23
The project is estimated to be complete by the end of August 2025. There will be no access to this elevator for the duration of construction. Please use the stairs on the north or south end of Buchanan Block C to access floors 2-4, or the elevator in Buchanan Block D to access floors 1-2.

Metro Vancouver watering restrictions now in effect
Stage 1 of Metro Vancouver’s Lawn Watering Regulations are in effect from May 1 to October 15, 2025. Both residential and non-residential watering is only allowed once a week, on a specific day. To find out when you are allowed to water, visit the Metro Vancouver website.
