In memory of Neil Malmquist

It is with great sadness and sense of loss that we inform you of the passing of Neil Malmquist on March 22, 2024. Neil was a valued member of the Facilities team for over 25 years.

Neil joined Building Operations (Plant Operations at the time) as a Journeyman Carpenter in 1998 and recently transitioned to Asset Replacement & Improvement as a carpenter for the Construction Office.

Neil had a great deal of pride in his work and enjoyed being part of a team that helped keep the campus running. It brought him an immense sense of satisfaction knowing how his work contributes to supporting students, faculty, and staff in their daily activities on campus. He was also always dedicated to safety, and spent many years as a shop safety representative on the Building Operations JOHSC.

Neil will be missed by the Facilities team and all the staff and colleagues he’s worked with. Please keep Neil’s family in your thoughts as they go through this difficult time. At this time, Neil’s family is planning a small service for close family and friends only. Information on how we can pay our respects and condolences will be shared as we learn more from Neil’s family.
