Learning beyond the classroom: A collaborative effort between UBC Facilities & the School of Population & Public Health
Last month, UBC Facilities’ Building Operations was invited by Dr. Karen Bartlett, a Professor in the School of Population & Public Health (SPPH) to present to her Master of Science graduate class in the Occupational & Environmental Hygiene graduate program.
Noel McNally promoted as Senior Project Manager in Infrastructure Development
In his new role, Noel will be leading one of the teams of project managers in Project Services, and continue his present scope of work of directly managing complex projects such as Jack Bell Building Renewal and Faculty of Applied Science Digital Design Studio.
Selina Liu Joins Energy & Water Services as Energy Conservation Engineer
She joins us from BCIT as the Energy Manager, where she managed a team of engineers and BMS technicians to implement robust process improvements to increase energy efficiency across the Institute. The projects and process improvements she has implemented during her time there received over $500,000 in incentive funding.

Educating young children on solid waste collection on campus
The Waste Management team in Municipal Services recently paid a visit to the Berwick Child Development Centre to educate young children about the vehicles and equipment used for solid waste collection on the UBC Vancouver campus. The kids were beyond thrilled to see the trucks up close and learn about how they work.

Andrew Carr transitions into new role as Head Mechanic in Municipal Services
Reporting to Rishi Purohit – Fleet and Asset Manager, Andrew will be the point of contact for vehicle service requests and vehicle upfitting. Andrew has been working at UBC for over 20 years. His expertise and deep knowledge of UBC will enable a smooth transition into his new role.
Keeping our campus warm
It’s not easy keeping a campus as large as UBC warm throughout the cooler months. Most buildings on the UBC Vancouver campus are connected to a centralized thermal energy system managed by Energy & Water Services. As work carries on at the Campus Energy Center and the Bioenergy Research and Demonstration Facility, we appreciate our thermal operators for continuing to demonstrate adaptability, expertise and collaboration!
