Project Summary

Project purpose: To create an “on-campus” facility for staff, offering services associated with health and wellness, as part of UBC’s ongoing commitment to people.

The Centre is comprised  of a large exercise room with both strength and cardio fitness equipment, multipurpose training room with full audio visual capability, physiotherapy clinic with three treatment rooms, and new washrooms, including showers, change area and lavatory facilities.

Sustainable Elements

The project team incorporated materials such as wood, rubber and low VOC emitting paint products to ensure good indoor air quality, in order to provide comfort, well-being and productivity. In addition, energy efficient lighting and HVAC systems were employed with personal temperature and airflow control.  Low flow toilets and water flow sensors were incorporated as part of the new washroom renovations.
