Project Summary
A public art installation providing an interactive journey through Earth’s 4.5 billion-year history connecting the Pacific Museum of the Earth to the Beaty Biodiversity Museum will be installing a corten steel inlayed “ribbon” and “ripple” with extrusions representing a timeline of significant geological and biological events in Earth’s history. This exhibit is intended to engage and provide an interactive experience for the public.
The Pacific Museum of Earth is Vancouver’s premier Earth Science museum. Located in the Department of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences at The University of British Columbia, the museum provides an educational window into a wide range of topics including atmospheric science, oceanography, geology, environmental sciences, geological engineering, and planetary science.
The Beaty Biodiversity Museum is Vancouver’s natural history museum. Explore the university’s spectacular biological collections, with 20,000 square feet of exhibits, from insects to birds! Among our two million treasured specimens is a 26-metre-long blue whale skeleton suspended in the atrium, dinosaur trackways from BC’s early Cretaceous period, and myriad fossils, mammals, reptiles, and plants from around our region and across the planet.
