UBCO Centre for Climate Resiliency

Project Snapshot

Project Size: 1,206 gross square metres
Budget: $20 million estimate
Status: TBD

Project Summary

The UBCO Centre for Climate Resiliency will occupy an existing building near the UBC Okanagan campus Innovation Precinct.

The facility will include state‐of‐the‐art experimental tools that will enable School of Engineering researchers to investigate and develop resilient infrastructure that mitigates the effects of fire, wind, temperature, seismic, tsunami, and floods. These tools will also allow inter‐disciplinary research related to wind/solar energy production, hydrogen energy, healthy and efficient buildings, and low‐carbon transportation. It is anticipated that the facility would eventually be equipped with a temperature‐controlled boundary layer wind tunnel for testing. The facility will also include space for student‐teams and teaching.
